Scholes: The Reds’ midfield is several levels ahead of the Reds

Paul Scholes believes Manchester United’s midfield is far behind Liverpool’s and was one of the factors in their humiliating 3-0 defeat on Sunday.

Liverpool got three goals through Luis Diaz, who netted twice in the first half. Before Mo Salah sealed the win in the second half.

All three of Liverpool’s goals came from United losing the ball in midfield. With Casemiro directly involved in the first two goals and Kobbie Menounos the other.

Scholes targeted United’s midfield in his post-match analysis for http://ufabet999.app Premier League Productions.

“That was the big thing that struck me. We’re only early in the season but they are things that worry me – are the team working hard enough behind the scenes to be as fit as they should be? They just didn’t look fit enough.”

Scholes also thinks it’s a “concern” that two of Man Utd’s centre-backs (Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire) “can’t get through a game”.

“If you have a centre-half who can’t get through a game, that’s a concern. That tells me you’re not fit enough straight from the off,” Scholes added.

“It was a tough afternoon but they have to realise what they’re up against,” the former United legend began.

“We know United have a lot of work to do. Their midfield is a big problem. I thought Liverpool were inches ahead of them.”
